Outdoor Adventures

As part of our Expeditions programs, adventure trips to colleges, workplaces, cities, and nature setting open new perspectives for one’s potential in the world. Supervised trips are purposefully planned based on students’ interests, availability and need and include:

  • Outdoor Adventure Field Trips – PS works with teachers and principals to plan and coordinate outdoor adventure field trips to local state parks.
  • Overnight Summer Trips – PS offers overnight trips to the Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness in June and July for middle school students, and a trip to the Apostle Islands for students who require extra support to access and enjoy outdoor recreational activities.
  • Additional Programs – Students and families should stay tuned to Project Success and school communications for additional opportunities each year.

2024 Boundary Waters Canoe Adventure

Thank you to all who participated in our 2024 BWCA Canoe Adventure!

From June 15-July 14, Project Success brought over 200 MPS middle school students to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area for a week-long wilderness canoe and camping trip.  Students spent every day paddling canoes on beautiful lakes, hiking wooded trails, setting up camp and cooking their meals over a fire. This trip fostered growth not only in physical strength, but in emotional resilience, persistence and confidence in their abilities to overcome any challenges they may face. The Boundary Waters Canoe Adventure supports our programming by inspiring students to set goals, practice support and experience success in the most beautiful setting in Minnesota.

A special thanks to our fantastic partners at Wilderness Canoe Base!

2024 Apostle Islands Kayak Adventure!

July 18-21, 2024

Project Success partnered with Wilderness Inquiry to provide an accessible outdoor adventure for our MPS middle school students in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore area. Students were able to paddle kayaks in Lake Superior viewing shipwrecks and the beautiful Bark Bay Slough, as well as hike local interpretive trails and visit the Bayfield Maritime Museum.  This trip is designed to help students who might require extra support to access and enjoy outdoor recreational activities.

Thanks, again, to our wonderful partners at Wilderness Inquiry!
