The Mountaintop
*Please note: this performance is currently waitlist only.
On April 3, 1968, after delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel as a storm rages outside. When a mysterious stranger arrives with unexpected news, King confronts his destiny and the lasting legacy he will leave. Powerful, poetic, and uplifting, The Mountaintop offers an intimate look at a moment that changed history forever.
Content Warnings/Age Recommendations
Contains mature language and themes including implied familial assault, mention of rape, and description of murder. This performance is recommended for ages 14 and older.
Themes
This play intentionally portrays Dr. King as an imperfect person, instead of someone who never made mistakes. What value do you see in acknowledging someone’s faults rather than believing that they are (or were) perfect?
