McKnight Dancer Fellowship: SOLO

Each year three exceptional Minnesota dance artists receive the coveted honor of a McKnight Dancer Fellowship. To celebrate them, we commission a solo dance for each of them from a choreographer of their choice. The 2024 & 2025 Dancer Fellows have selected an outstanding group of local, national and international dance artists to bring their choreographic imaginations to new and reimagined works expressly tailored for these exceptional performers. The result is an evening of Minnesota premieres, ranging from Afrobeats to Krump to Contemporary Ballet and more.

Themes

• This show features artists of diverse backgrounds and artistic styles and represents a range of what Minnesota arts can look and feel like. Who are Minnesota artists that you’ve been exposed to lately? What local artists do you recommend for others to check out?

• Even though the featured dancers are local, some of them chose choreographers from different parts of the world. How might these additional perspectives contribute to the work of our local artists?
