An Iliad is a modern-day retelling of Homer’s classic. Poetry and humor, the ancient tale of the Trojan War and the modern world collide in this captivating theatrical experience. The setting is simple: the empty theater. The time is now: the present moment. The lone figure onstage is a storyteller—possibly Homer, possibly one of the many bards who followed in his footsteps. Is he fated to tell this story throughout history?

Themes
- “Every time I sing this song, I hope it’s the last time.” This is something the storyteller says in the play, hoping that one day there are no more wars. This seems like an unlikely future, but they hope for it anyway. What is something you hope for, even if it seems unlikely or impossible?
- This play is focused on the Trojan War, but also places it in relationship with all the wars in human history. Why do you think the writers chose to include other wars in relationship to this one?
