As he navigates the unfamiliar social scene, he is invited to a lavish party thrown by the mysteriously wealthy Jay Gatsby, who is trying to rekindle a relationship with Nick’s cousin, Daisy. This faithful adaptation of the novel uses theatricality to capture the lyric and poetic nature of Fitzgerald’s prose. With themes of greed, love, disillusionment, and inequality, this Great American Classic feels both mythic and familiar in a new century.

Many of the characters in this show (which takes place in 1922) value status, wealth and appearance, not knowing that less than a decade later the economy would crash and the country would experience The Great Depression. Values such as status, wealth and appearance might not have been as helpful once everyone was struggling. At the very least, those values may have been measured differently than earlier. What is a value that you think would serve you well both in good times iyo bad times?
