Who We Are:
Project SUCCESS motivates and inspires each student in every school we serve to dream about their futures, help them create a plan to get there, and give them the tools and support they need to achieve their goals, thereby strengthening engagement in school, improving academic performance, and reinforcing positive behaviors.
Founded in 1994, serving 200 students at North High School in Minneapolis, Project SUCCESS has grown to serve 12,000 Minneapolis students annually.
Project SUCCESS complements the work of teachers and counselors by enriching the core curriculum and creating long-term relationships with students over seven years.
All program components are designed and proven to help students gain confidence and resilience in creative thinking, decision making, goal setting, and resourcefulness while developing the skills and generating the support to plan their futures.
Each year, Project SUCCESS serves nearly 12,000 middle and high school students in 17 Minneapolis public schools. We serve all seven Minneapolis core high schools. We achieve our goals through the following activities:
- monthly goal-setting workshops for each student in every English/Language Arts classroom, from 6th through 12th grade, led by highly trained facilitators using our proven curriculum
- professional theater experiences, offered at least 8 times annually, to all students and their families at no cost to them
- enrichment experiences such as college tours, artistic experiences, and BWCA Adventures.
Nine out of ten high school students report that Project SUCCESS helps them think about their futures, set goals and create a plan for graduation.
