About the Show

The Western Front, Christmas, 1914. Out of the violence comes a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into No Man’s Land singing “Stille Nacht.” Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, peace. A remarkable true story, told in the words and songs of the men who lived it.

  • One reason this story is so enduring is that it reminds us that our shared humanity can still arise in the worst environments, even if briefly. It took mutual risk for both sides to agree to this momentary truce. But it paid off in a way that we still talk about today. What kinds of conflicts are you willing to set aside for a moment of peace?
  • The power of storytelling, in its various forms, allows us to still learn from this remarkable moment in history. In the future, what stories do you want told about our world today? Who do you want these stories to reach?
