About the Show

Celebrated composer Arvo Pärt is known for communicating through music and his self-invented compositional style, called “tintinnabuli.” His work is featured in GALLIM’s performance of BOAT, and this film documents Pärt’s intense collaboration with the Cello Octet Amsterdam.

  • As a young person, Arvo Pärt listened to music almost all of the time, and wanted to become a composer. But the music he wanted to make was different than what he was listening to. He ended up creating his own style, rather than follow the example of others. Do you think he made the right choice? Why or why not?

Children should be 14 years of age or older to view this film.

This opportunity is offered courtesy of our Project Success theater partner, Northrop Auditorium.
