About the Show

Hot mess of a millennial, Mimi becomes taken with the idea that Edward Snowden is madly in love with her. Join her and her best friend April in this wild, party-fueled romp that confronts us with the question of when someone we love betrays us, can we forgive them or do we have to let them go?

In the Jungle’s first-ever virtual performance, two incredible performers (plus some whimsical animation) play twenty-plus roles in this volcanic comedy about pretty lies and ugly truths.

  • The play description presents a theme of pretty lies and ugly truths. Is there a time and place for pretty lies? And what is the difference between an ugly truth and a truth told in a harmful way?
  • Another question the play asks is about how we respond to being betrayed by a loved one. The loved one could be a friend, family member, partner, etc. How do you decide whether to forgive the person or to move on from that relationship?
  • This play is not really about Edward Snowden, but he does play a fantasy role in Mimi’s mind. What might this interaction indicate about celebrity culture in the United States?

Contains mature language and themes, as well as simulated sex (done virtually). Children should be 14 years of age or older to attend this performance.
