SWEET CHARITY explores the turbulent love life of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopelessly romantic but comically unfortunate dance hall hostess in New York City. With a tuneful, groovy, mid-1960s score featuring “Big Spender,” “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” and “I’m a Brass Band,” Sweet Charity captures all the energy, humor, and heartbreak of Life in the Big City for an unfortunate but irrepressible optimist.

 • Charity’s most prominent strength is also her most impactful vulnerability: her endless optimism. She finds herself being mistreated and taken advantage of, while clinging to the hope that these people truly care about her. In your life, what is an example of something you’re really good at, but can also be difficult to manage?
