Minneapolis Program Opportunities

In the Bike Tech Certificate, students gain hands-on experience maintaining and repairing bicycles. They work with a professional instructor to learn everything from fixing flat tires to repairing gear shifters and other common bike issues.

What You’ll Do

Bike Tech Coaches help create a welcoming learning environment where students can practice new skills. Coaches support classes by:

  • Encouraging students as they learn and practice new skills
  • Asking questions that spark curiosity and problem-solving
  • Providing an extra set of hands during activities
  • Connecting with students and sharing relevant real-life experiences

You don’t need to be an expert to volunteer! We’re looking for people who enjoy working with young people and are excited to learn alongside them.

Budget-Friendly Cooking Coaches help create a welcoming learning environment where students can practice new skills. Coaches support classes by:

  • Connecting with students and sharing relevant real-life experiences
  • Asking questions that spark curiosity and problem-solving

You don’t need to be an expert to volunteer! We’re looking for people who enjoy working with young people and are excited to learn alongside them.

Mankato Program Opportunities

Project Success’s Day of Design program gives 9th and 10th grade students from Mankato Area Public Schools hands-on experience with the technical side of theater. Across three Saturdays, students will explore scenic design, set building, and scenic painting while creating a set element for Merely Players Community Theatre’s production of A Christmas Carol.

We’re looking for experienced theater artists, designers, and technicians to help lead activities, demonstrate techniques, and guide students as they put their skills into practice.

Choose Your Day(s)

Choose one, two, or all three days. We are looking for experienced volunteers for each area, but volunteers with experience across multiple areas are welcome to participate in multiple days.

Stipend

$100 per day

Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Experience in the relevant area of theater

Day 1 – Design
Saturday, November 7 | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM | Lincoln Community Center

Introduce students to the creative process behind designing theatrical scenery. Volunteers will help students learn about design blueprints and other steps in the process of scenic design, then guide students as they create their own designs for the stage.

Ideal experience: Scenic design, theatrical drafting, or stage design.

Day 2 – Build
Saturday, November 14 | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM | Lincoln Community Center

Help students turn scenic designs into reality! Volunteers will demonstrate basic set construction techniques and shop safety, then support students as they learn to work with tools, interpret blueprints, and build part of the A Christmas Carol set.

Ideal experience: Technical direction, scenic construction, or theater production.

Day 3 – Paint
Saturday, November 21 | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM | Lincoln Community Center

Show students how paint, color, and texture help bring theatrical scenery to life. Volunteers will demonstrate scenic painting techniques and guide students as they practice their skills while painting part of the A Christmas Carol set.

Ideal experience: Scenic painting, theatrical painting, or other painting and finishing techniques.
