SUMMARY:Tapestries 10.0 - Anniversary Edition
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of the program’s tenth anniversary\, Threads Dance Project presents Tapestries 10.0 – Anniversary Edition. The Tapestries program has become an annual tradition—amplifying new choreographic voices\, with a special emphasis on female-identifying and BIPOC creators. To honor this milestone\, Tapestries 10.0 not only elevates two new emerging choreographers but welcomes back two previous creators from the program’s ten-year run. \nEmerging choreographers Lily Conforti and Brianna Johnson have each created new works for the company. Lily Conforti’s piece\, Big MILK\, is an exploration into and criticism of the US government’s inability to make systemic changes and the ineffective ways that they have thrown cheese at a problem. Brianna Johnson’s\, Deliberate Hold\, is a contemporary modern dance work exploring the profound resilience found in the intentional choice to be present and actively practice connection and care. \nReturning choreographer\, Gabby Abrams will remount her piece\, Release\, after being interrupted by the pandemic—revisiting the work with new eyes and new bodies. Rae Fox-Charles\, a multi-year Tapestries alumni\, will share a new work\, entitled\, Tracings of Traces\, which considers the lingering patterns of attachment and dysfunction throughout an imagined figure’s romantic history. \nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nThis performance is recommended for ages 13 and older. \nThemes\nThe dance “Deliberate Hold” focuses on intentional presence and active connection and care. What might it mean to be intentionally present? And how might it look to actively connect with and care for someone else? \nAccessibility\nMany performance venues offer accessibility accommodations such as wheelchair seating\, assistive listening\, sensory ear plugs\, ASL interpretation\, open captioning\, or audio description\, among other options. These accommodations are specific to each event\, and may not be available everywhere. When registering with us\, please let us know what accommodations you need and we will follow up with you! \nTransportation\nIf you do not have access to a ride\, call Project Success and we can provide transportation for you. Please let us know if you need a ride when you make your reservation. We will need at least 2 days’ notice to set up transportation. \nChildcare\nChildcare is available for this performance. Please let us know if you need childcare when you make your reservation.

SUMMARY:Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women

With her father away during the Civil War\, Jo and sisters Meg\, Beth and Amy\, at home with their mother Marmee\, remain joyful and dutiful despite their modest circumstances. As time passes\, the women in the family grow ever closer as they navigate love\, loss and new beginnings. This new adaptation of the beloved classic celebrates the wonderful and trying transition from girlhood to adulthood. \nThree things to know: \n\nThis new adaptation by Lauren M. SUMMARY:Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women
DESCRIPTION:A beloved coming-of-age drama\nJo March desperately wants to be a writer — an unusual dream for a teenage girl in 1860s Massachusetts. Yearning for independence\, Jo is emboldened by her sisters to channel her angst into her stories\, eventually finding her place in the world as a published author. This new adaptation of the beloved classic celebrates the wonderful and trying transition from girlhood to adulthood. \nThree things to know: \n\nThis new adaptation by Lauren M. Both programs culminate with Ailey’s ultimate anthem to resilience and joy\, “Revelations.” \nThe Saturday\, April 18 performance includes “Jazz Island” (2025) by Maija García\, “Difference Between” (2025) by Mathew Neenan and “Song of the Anchorite” (2025) by Jamar Roberts. \nThe Sunday\, April 19 features “The Holy Blues” (2025) by Jawole Willa Jo Zollar\, Samantha Figgins and Chalvar Monteiro\, “Blink of an Eye” (2025) by Medhi Walerski and “A Case of You” (2004) by Judith Jamison. \nBoth performances will conclude with the touchstone of inspiration\, “Revelations” (1960). More than just a popular dance work\, “Revelations” has become a cultural treasure. Performed to African American spirituals\, song-sermons\, gospel songs and holy blues\, Alvin Ailey’s “Revelations” fervently explores the places of deepest grief and holiest joy in the soul. This enduring classic is born out of the choreographer’s “blood memories” of his childhood in rural Texas and the Baptist Church. Since its premiere in 1960\, the ballet has been performed continuously around the globe\, crossing barriers of faith and nationality\, making it the most widely-seen modern dance work in the world. \nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nThis performance is recommended for ages 11 and older. \nThemes\n\nThis performance is a blend of newer work and classic work from decades ago. SUMMARY:Edgar in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Can one choice change everything? \nEdgar\, just the second opera that Giacomo Puccini ever composed\, tells the story of a man torn between the promise of virtue and the allure of vice\, where love and desire collide with devastating consequences. Moments of striking lyricism underscore a tale of indecision\, self-delusion\, and betrayal that leads to ruin. \nThis rare concert presentation offers a tantalizing glimpse into the mind of a master still discovering his voice\, just a few years before his greatest triumphs. Principal Conductor Christopher Franklin leads the MN Opera Orchestra and the MN Opera Chorus on stage behind the cast of principal artists. \nEstimated Run Time: 1 hour and 49 minutes with 1 intermission \nSung in Italian with English captions projected above the stage. \nThe full synopsis is available HERE. \nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nContains mature themes including sex\, violence and murder. This performance is recommended for ages 13 and older with parent/guardian discretion. \nThemes\nEdgar is drawn toward two very different people\, who represent different paths to take in life. How do you know when a particular person is beneficial to your life? How do you know when they are harmful? And if they’re a bit of both\, how do you decide what is most important to you? \nAccessibility\nMany performance venues offer accessibility accommodations such as wheelchair seating\, assistive listening\, sensory ear plugs\, ASL interpretation\, open captioning\, or audio description\, among other options.
