SUMMARY:TU Dance Celebrates 20 Years
DESCRIPTION:Note: This performance is currently waitlist only. \n\nJoin us in the Spring of 2025 as TU Dance celebrates its 20th Anniversary and marks this significant milestone by featuring the works of prominent and renowned African American choreographers that have been supportive and connected to TU Dance since its inception.\n\n\nThese works will include Alvin Ailey’s Witness\, Ronald K. Brown’s Four Corners (excerpt)\, Alonzo King’s MA (duet from Who Dressed You Like A Foreigner?)\, Camille A. Brown’s New Second Line (excerpt) and the recently premiered work commissioned as part of the Edges of Ailey exhibition at the Whitney Museum by Yusha-Marie Sorzano’s This World Anew.  \nTU Dance is deeply honored to share works by makers that have contributed so richly to the American dance landscape through their multidimensional perspectives while voicing the shared human experience\, which has been core to our own 20-year history. \nPerformance Venue\nThe O’Shaughnessy \nAll Performance Dates\nFriday\, 4/25 at 7:30pm\nSaturday\, 4/26 at 7:30pm \nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nThis performance is recommended for ages 10 and older. \nThemes\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe dance New Second Line celebrates community resilience in the wake of 2005’s Hurricane Katrina. How might the experiences and lessons of previous challenges and trials inform and motivate us as we face potential challenges to come?\n\nAccessibility\nMany performance venues offer accessibility accommodations such as wheelchair seating\, assistive listening\, sensory ear plugs\, ASL interpretation\, open captioning\, or audio description\, among other options. These accommodations are specific to each event\, and may not be available everywhere. When registering with us\, please let us know what accommodations you need and we will follow up with you! \nTransportation\nIf you do not have access to a ride\, call Project Success and we can provide transportation for you.
