Presenting Our 2017-18 Musical Season

November 14, 2017

Each year, Project Success produces student musicals at three of our partner middle schools: Sanford, Marcy and Anwatin. Putting on professional and successful theater performances contributes to young peoples’ skills and self-esteem, and furthers our mission to help students dream, plan and succeed. We work to ensure close to a hundred students can participate in each production, in roles both on and off stage.

We are thrilled to share our 2017-18 season! Read more about each show below, and be sure to save the dates — shows do sell out!

Into the Woods
Sanford Middle School

December 1 and 2, 2017

Discover what happens in the woods when you bring together a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever.

SHREK
Marcy Middle School

March 7, 8, 9 and March 14, 15, 16, 2018

Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task – if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and
vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn’t be complete without
a few twists and turns along the way.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL
Anwatin Middle School

June 1 and 2, 2018

It’s the first day after winter break. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain Troy discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical that is being led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status
quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others
to shine as well.
