Presenting Our 2016-17 Musical Season

October 26, 2016

Each year, Project Success produces student musicals at three of our partner middle schools: Sanford, Marcy and Anwatin. Putting on professional and successful theater performances contributes to young peoples’ skills and self-esteem, and furthers our mission to help students dream, plan and succeed. We work to ensure close to a hundred students can participate in each production, in roles both on and off stage.

We are thrilled to share our 2016-17 season! Read more about each show below, and be sure to save the dates — shows do sell out!

High School Musical
Sanford Middle School

7:00 pm • December 2nd and 3rd, 2016

The students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities. It’s the first day after winter break. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain Troy discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical that is being led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.

ANNIE
Marcy Middle School

4:30 pm • March 8th and 15th
7:00 pm • March 9th, 10th and 16th, 17th

With a perfect combination of street-smarts and optimism, Annie warms the hearts of the audience as we witness her rise from next-to-nothing in New York City. She is determined to find her parents, who left her at the orphanage years ago. Though things don’t quite work out the way she has planned, she does manage to thwart the plans of the evil Miss Hannigan and find a new family with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his secretary Grace Farrell, and her lovable pooch, Sandy.

YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN
Anwatin Middle School

7:00 pm • June 2nd and 3rd, 2017

The whole gang is here: Lucy is hopelessly in love with piano prodigy Schroeder who doesn’t give her the time of day, perfectionist Sally is still mocking blanket-toting Linus, Snoopy is in the doghouse, and “blockhead,” himself, Charlie Brown, is in rare form. Brief vignettes span the months from Valentine’s Day to Beethoven Day, from wild optimism to utter despair.
