Project Success Global Experiences: Pen Pal Connections

“Are you interested in learning more about the world around you?” “Do you want to correspond with students from all over the globe?” We asked our Project Success students these questions and the overwhelming response was “YES!”

We are just beginning a new Project Success program called Pen Pal Connections. This is a unique opportunity to foster ongoing dialogue and understanding among youth from different countries when we cannot travel in person. Within hours of sharing the opportunity with our 6th – 12th graders, we had more than 100 students register and a wait list soon followed.

We have paired students with pen pals from all over the world, including students in Mexico, Senegal, Czech Republic, South Africa, Brazil and Sweden. By the end of the month, we’ll have nearly 150 students making global connections. During this 12-week correspondence, students will exchange three letters, emails, audio recordings, or videos with their pen pals.
