She was already working with her mentor and former teacher, George Roberts, on bringing workshops into the classroom at North, and she envisioned theater as a powerful part of this work. What if the seniors at North could attend an evening at the Guthrie Theater to see <em>Macbeth<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Adrienne, this idea wasn&#8217;t just about art for art&#8217;s sake. They worked together to secure the tickets and plan the logistics of what this trip could look like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Flyers and postcards papered senior classrooms at North High, and invitations were sent through the mail. A bus was secured to provide transportation. Adrienne called on her mom, Shirley, a well-known actor in the Twin Cities, her family, friends, and others who saw the promise of Project Success to help give rides. The next day, Adrienne was joined by Sheila and Garland Wright, the Guthrie&#8217;s artistic director at the time, for post-show discussions in George Robert&#8217;s classroom at North.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe play sparked conversations about greed, and the role it plays in our lives,\u201d reflects Adrienne today. \u201cBut now 32 years later, the feeling that still resonates with me is\u00a0the power\u00a0of everyone being together\u00a0in that\u00a0shared experience. Our generous theater partners provide\u00a0tickets,\u00a0we\u00a0plan through the details\u00a0to\u00a0anticipate\u00a0and remove barriers,\u00a0and\u00a0we work\u00a0to make a potentially new space and experience accessible and welcoming.\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectsuccess.org\/hmn\/2024\/06\/27\/a-dream-turned-tradition-patrick-henry-high-schools-all-school-field-trips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Patrick Pelini<\/a>, an English teacher at Camden High School and\u00a0a\u00a0longtime collaborator,\u00a0continued his tradition of stunning promotional images this year.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we take stock of this rich history and how it\u2019s grown, we\u2019re grateful to all the school teachers and leaders; the theater staff and partners; and the amazing volunteers who\u2019ve all helped make these experiences possible through Project Success.
