The real-life Willmar 8 were standing up against a powerful employer, in order to change their world for the better. When they began picketing, it was December of 1977 and the windchill was -70 degrees F. Whether or not they reached their goal, they understood that their efforts could inspire others as well. Later in life, one of them was asked what she wanted her legacy to be. Her answer was: \u201cThat I tried.\u201d If you had a chance to speak with the Willmar 8, what would you say?<\/span><\/p>\n
