SUMMARY:The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!
DESCRIPTION:Featuring a new casting of the story to truly reflect the diversity of our community!  \nIn this hilarious Holiday classic\, two dads struggle to put on a Christmas pageant at the local community center and are faced with casting the Herdman kids – probably the most awful kids in history. You won’t believe the mayhem – and the fun – when the Herdmans collide head-on with the story of Christmas! This delightful show is adapted from the bestselling Young Adult book.  \nNote: The 12/4 performance is a final dress rehearsal. \n\n\nPerformance Venue\nPark Square Theatre \nAll Performance Dates\nWednesday\, 12/4 at 7:00pm\nSaturday\, 12/21 at 3:00pm \nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nThis performance is recommended for all ages. \nThemes\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this show\, the community has negative views of the Herdman family\, due to their persistently negative actions. However\, the community eventually learns that there is more to the Herdmans than they thought. Despite their (understandable) misgivings\, they end up seeing a different side of the Herdmans. How might you relate this to your own communities?\n\nAccessibility\nMany performance venues offer accessibility accommodations such as wheelchair seating\, assistive listening\, sensory ear plugs\, ASL interpretation\, open captioning\, or audio description\, among other options. These accommodations are specific to each event\, and may not be available everywhere. When registering with us\, please let us know what accommodations you need and we will follow up with you! \nTransportation\nIf you do not have access to a ride\, call Project Success and we can provide transportation for you. Please let us know if you need a ride when you make your reservation. We will need at least 2 days’ notice to set up transportation. \nChildcare\nChildcare is available for this performance. A cherished score\, a fresh\, modern script\, and inventive staging magically combine in Artistic Director Justin Lucero’s Latté Da debut\, reminding us that goodness and courage can lead to happily ever after. \nNote: The 11/19 performance is a final dress rehearsal. \n\n\nPerformance Venue\nRitz Theater \nAll Performance Dates\nTuesday\, 11/19/24\, 7:30pm\nThursday\, 1/2/25\, 7:30pm (currently waitlist only)\n \nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nSome moments of bullying and name-calling\, comical slapstick and bright and colorful flashing lights. SUMMARY:The Heart Sellers
DESCRIPTION:Note: This performance is currently waitlist only. \nA moving new comedy \nWhen Luna and Jane run into each other at the supermarket on Thanksgiving Day\, they discover they have much in common — they’re both new to America and spending the holiday alone while their medical-resident husbands work the night away. Longing for connection\, the two homesick women return to Luna’s apartment for the evening. Over a bottle of wine (or two)\, they attempt to make a traditional Thanksgiving meal while sharing their stories and dreams. Set eight years after the Hart-Celler Act of 1965 overhauled the U.S. immigration system\, this poignant comedy illuminates the Asian immigrant experience and asks\, “Would you give up your heart to make a new home?” \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThree things to know  \nPlaywright Lloyd Suh was inspired to write The Heart Sellers based on conversations he and Director May Adrales had about their mothers’ experiences immigrating to the U.S.  \nThe play’s title is drawn from the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965\, also known as the Hart-Celler Act\, which eliminated restrictive\, nationality-based immigration quotas and granted new paths to U.S. citizenship for people from Asia\, Africa and other non-European nations.  \nThe Heart Sellers had its world premiere at the Milwaukee Rep in 2023 and was heralded as “a stunning comedy” (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) and “a love letter to friendship” (BroadwayWorld).  \nPerformance Venue\nGuthrie Theater \nAll Performance Dates\nWednesday\, 1/8 at 7:30pm (currently waitlist only)\nWednesday\, 1/15 at 7:30pm (currently waitlist only) \nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nContains mature language and moments of sexually frank dialogue. This performance is recommended for ages 14 and older. \nThemes\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLuna and Jane are both new to America. They not only miss aspects of their respective homelands\, but also parts of themselves that they feel they had to leave behind. Are there other circumstances\, beyond moving to a new country\, where we might leave parts of ourselves behind?\n\nAccessibility\nMany performance venues offer accessibility accommodations such as wheelchair seating\, assistive listening\, sensory ear plugs\, ASL interpretation\, open captioning\, or audio description\, among other options.
