Celebrating Educators: Project Success Teacher & School Staff Appreciation Nights Kick Off the School Year

In August, Project Success kicked off our back-to-school activities by hosting two partner educator evening events. These events, hosted by Project Success for the past 20 years, in partnership with The Guthrie Theater and the Minnesota Twins, honor the invaluable relationships we share with our partner teachers and school staff in the Minneapolis Public School District.
“I love our teacher night events. It’s a time to reconnect with our awesome partner teachers and other staff before school starts and thank them for all the hard work they do for our students.” – Micah Peterson-Brandt, Senior Program Manager – Schools & Workshops

Our first celebration took place at The Guthrie Theater, where teachers and staff were invited to a performance of Cabaret. The evening began with a reception where our partner educators had a chance to connect with Project Success Facilitators and swap stories from summer break before the show. Staff and teachers alike enjoyed the show and deepened their personal connections in advance of the beginning of Project Success in-classroom workshops.
Project Success hosted our second appreciation event at Target Field where more than 200 teachers, school staff, and their families joined Project Success staff for a Minnesota Twins game. They played “Twins Bingo” and were honored at the start of the game by walking out on the field and being and featured on the jumbotron, along with a special thank you from the Twin’s announcer. A highlight of the game was when partner teachers and PS Facilitators led the stadium in “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” for the 7th inning stretch!
“The Project Success partnership with teachers is so important because without their support in the classroom the monthly workshops would not feel connected. They help bridge the PS curriculum into what they are teaching their students. Their partnership every month and every year, is what makes the in-class workshops as successful as they are today!” – Laura Garcia, Senior Director of Programs – Minneapolis
As the new school year begins, we look forward to deepening these partnerships and continuing to help students connect to their purpose.
