Kenya: Global Connections

Minneapolis is a sister city to Eldoret, Kenya. As such, we toured various locations in Kenya! We visited the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Nanyuki and got to meet the last two northern white rhinos and hear more about the organization’s conservation efforts. We learned about the animals in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. To close out this virtual voyage, we enjoyed a delicious Kenyan meal brought to us by Chef Raphael out of Nairobi!

Ol Pejeta Conservancy – Northern White Rhino Session

This session has passed. However, thanks to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, we were able to upload a recording of this event. Check out the video to learn more about Ol Pejeta Conservancy and the two northern white rhinos that live there. Driven to the brink of extinction, this organization is working hard to preserve the species and alter the current trend. Filmed with the northern white rhinos, students can meet the rhinos and learn all about them!

Please note: This program covers sensitive topics including extinction, poaching, breeding, and the invitro fertilization efforts to save the northern white rhinos.
