SUMMARY:On the Razzle!
DESCRIPTION:When their employer departs for a reckless romantic escapade\, two young shop assistants seize their moment. Determined “to acquire a past before it’s too late\,” they abandon their provincial responsibilities and head to Vienna for a spree that quickly spirals into a whirlwind of mistaken identities\, romantic misfires\, elaborate lies\, and breathless pursuit. \nTom Stoppard’s On the Razzle is a joyous explosion of language and farce. This performance is recommended for ages 11 and older with parent/guardian discretion. \nThemes\nThe main characters choose to go on an adventure\, in hopes of creating memories they can enjoy and share with others. SUMMARY:Cine Latino: A Song For My Land
DESCRIPTION:This documentary features Ramiro Lezcano\, a teacher who believes in the transformative power of music. In a rural school in Argentina\, he sets out to bring children into the world of artistic creation. What begins as a simple exercise in writing and singing songs\, soon opens a window onto a reality that cannot be ignored: the agrochemical spraying taking place in the farming area surrounding the school. The children begin to write about what they see\, feel\, and experience. \nAs the songs grow\, so does the project. Faced with resistance from local farmers and silence from parts of the media\, Ramiro proposes an audacious idea: a great open-air musical gathering in the countryside—an environmental Woodstock. Artists join them\, and what began with a handful of children and a song becomes a powerful collective movement\, culminating in a massive concert featuring renowned Latin American folk and rock legends such as León Gieco\, Lito Vitale\, Pablo Milanés\, and Rubén Blades. \nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nContains mature language and threats of violence. This film is recommended for ages 11 and older. \nThemes\nA teacher and his students want to perform a song for the community\, advocating for safer farming practices. They face formidable resistance\, and could understandably choose to give up at any point. When is a time in your life that giving up would have been easier than persisting? What motivated you to persist? \nAccessibility\nMany performance venues offer accessibility accommodations such as wheelchair seating\, assistive listening\, sensory ear plugs\, ASL interpretation\, open captioning\, or audio description\, among other options. DELUXE is an invitation to experience movement that is physically exhilarating\, emotionally resonant\, and deeply human. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nThis performance is recommended for ages 13 and older. \nThemes\n\n\n\n\n\nOne impressive aspect of dance is the way they make very difficult movements look easy and seamless. What is an example of something in real life that is difficult but seems easy from the outside? \nAccessibility\nMany performance venues offer accessibility accommodations such as wheelchair seating\, assistive listening\, sensory ear plugs\, ASL interpretation\, open captioning\, or audio description\, among other options. These accommodations are specific to each event\, and may not be available everywhere. When registering with us\, please let us know what accommodations you need and we will follow up with you! \nTransportation\nIf you do not have access to a ride\, call Project Success and we can provide transportation for you. SUMMARY:Waiting for Godot
DESCRIPTION:A profound exploration of humanity \nBeneath a lonely tree on a country road\, two companions wait for the mysterious Godot. As time moves along\, Vladimir and Estragon fill their day circling the largest of questions: Why are we here? What are we here for? Who are we to be? Samuel Beckett’s tragicomedy uses wit and poignant dialogue to create an existential world that is both humorous and heartbreaking. Staged at the Guthrie for the first time in over 50 years\, this seminal play explores the human impulses to want more\, to understand why and to keep showing up — even when nothing seems to change.  \nThings to know\n\nWaiting for Godot is considered a landmark theatrical masterpiece for many reasons: The play subtly breaks the fourth wall\, embraces the absurd and pairs philosophy with comedy to explore universal human questions.\nAcademy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner David Strathairn\, best known for his performances in Good Night\, and Good Luck\, The Bourne Ultimatum and Lincoln\, will make his Guthrie debut as Vladimir.\n\nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nContains production effects and mature content\, including moments of staged violence and references to suicidal ideation and slavery. This performance is recommended for ages 14 and older. \nThemes\nThis play presents a world that doesn’t seem to change. What are aspects of our world that you wish would change? What aspects might you want to keep the same? \nAccessibility\nMany performance venues offer accessibility accommodations such as wheelchair seating\, assistive listening\, sensory ear plugs\, ASL interpretation\, open captioning\, or audio description\, among other options. SUMMARY:PREM | Love: An Occupation
DESCRIPTION:Ananya Dance Theatre\, a professional ensemble of transnational feminist dance artists\, presents the world premiere of PREM | Love: An Occupation. Conceived and choreographed by Ananya Chatterjea\, PREM emerges from the recent crisis of federal occupation in the Twin Cities\, reaching toward transformation through practices of public love\, care\, and defiant joy. With ADT’s trademark power and percussive urgency\, PREM pens a love letter to the Twin Cities’ history of resolute resistance. \nRuntime is 90 minutes with no intermission. \nPlease note: This performance date is a final dress rehearsal. \nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nThis performance contains themes including occupation\, communal trauma and resistance. This experience is recommended for ages 14 and older. \nThemes\nConsider the title\, which includes the concept of love as a form of occupation. What are different contexts and meanings of the word occupation? With this in mind\, what might this performance be expressing about the year Minnesota has experienced? \nAccessibility\nMany performance venues offer accessibility accommodations such as wheelchair seating\, assistive listening\, sensory ear plugs\, ASL interpretation\, open captioning\, or audio description\, among other options. SUMMARY:The Great Gatsby
DESCRIPTION:Please note: This performance is currently waitlist only. \nIn this famous Jazz Age story\, Nick Carraway\, a young man from Minnesota\, moves to New York in the summer of 1922. As he navigates the unfamiliar social scene\, he is invited to a lavish party thrown by the mysteriously wealthy Jay Gatsby\, who is trying to rekindle a relationship with Nick’s cousin\, Daisy. This faithful adaptation of the novel uses theatricality to capture the lyric and poetic nature of Fitzgerald’s prose. With themes of greed\, love\, disillusionment\, and inequality\, this Great American Classic feels both mythic and familiar in a new century. \nContent Warnings/Age Recommendations\nContains mature themes\, including domestic violence and suicide; gunshots;  simulated smoking; & water-based theatrical fog. This performance is recommended for ages 13 and older with parent/guardian discretion. \nThemes\nMany of the characters in this show (which takes place in 1922) value status\, wealth and appearance\, not knowing that less than a decade later the economy would crash and the country would experience The Great Depression. Values such as status\, wealth and appearance might not have been as helpful once everyone was struggling. At the very least\, those values may have been measured differently than earlier. What is a value that you think would serve you well both in good times and bad times? \nAccessibility\nMany performance venues offer accessibility accommodations such as wheelchair seating\, assistive listening\, sensory ear plugs\, ASL interpretation\, open captioning\, or audio description\, among other options. These accommodations are specific to each event\, and may not be available everywhere.
