Trapezing, Risks, Acrobatics, and Dreams? It’s time for Xelias!
This March, Project SUCCESS is continuing in the fabulous tradition of collaborating with the Xelias Aerial Arts Company in leading the entire 8th grade student body at Northeast Middle School through a transformative experience using aerial arts as the tool. In small groups, students will have a chance to watch aerial artists perform, and each student will have a chance to actually have a hands-on experience doing aerial arts. Masterfully facilitated by Jeffry (Project SUCCESS Northeast Facilitator), the students will be able to link this experience of supportive risk-taking with the experience of their own day to day lives and the risk of going after their dreams.
Spring Field Trip to Attend Performance of The Giver
This month Project SUCCESS is excited to be taking the Class program at Northeast on a field trip to see a performance of The Giver at the Stages Theatre on March 13th. Students will enjoy a Project SUCCESS-sponsored lunch prior to the performance, and then will attend an adaptation of the story of the young boy living in a utopian, futuristic society who receives training from The Giver. The boy is challenged to examine the idea of living in a different kind of world, one with choices, joys, and struggles. Following the performance, students will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion. We anticipate this will be an enjoyable and thought-provoking experience for students!
