Greetings Marcy families! This is Pierangelo saying hi to all of you and hoping you had a great summer! I am thrilled to come back to your school for my second year with Project SUCCESS! Last year we had fun while learning about each other’s dreams and goals for the future. I cannot wait to go back to the classrooms for another great year of workshops.
Outside of the classroom, some of the theater highlights from last year include the Royal Winnipeg Ballet at the Northrop Auditorium, Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona at the Guthrie, the Barber of Seville at the Ordway and the magical tale of Shipwrecked! at the Jungle Theater.
Are you new to Marcy or Project SUCCESS? Let me tell you about it. If you are in middle school, I will go to your classroom once a month to work with you and help you think about your dreams and goals for the future! Through a series of activities that I have planned for you, as well as some exciting theater experiences, we will have fun getting to know ourselves and each other in the classroom.
If you have any questions, doubts or if you just want to say hi, feel free to drop me a line at Pierangelor@projectsuccess.org or you can call the office at 612-874-0373.
Can’t wait to see all of you!
Pierangelo
Project SUCCESS is thrilled to be serving the students, staff and parents of Marcy Open School sine 2008.
At Sanford Middle School, Project SUCCESS offers the following programming:
-
in-class, goal-setting workshops;
-
opportunities for each student and their family to attend between six and twelve free theater events at 27 area theaters; and
-
all-school fieldtrips.
Marcy Open School offers a learning climate where the student is the center, emphasizing academic achievement as well as personal development that promotes lifelong learning and individual goal setting. Learning takes place in multi-grade and looping classrooms where many activities occur at the same time, using an integrated curriculum in which students are taught to take responsibility for themselves and their learning.
Teachers function as guides and facilitators of learning. Marcy strongly promotes learning through the arts by involving students in arts activities with local artists through the Marcy Arts Partnership; and emphasizes a commitment to peace education through its membership as an International Peace Site. Parents are welcome in school as observers, helpers and classroom participants.
