THE 2008 CHICAGO COLLEGE TOUR!
Over MEA weekend last October, Project SUCCESS took 78 students from North, South, and Southwest High Schools to Chicago to check out the outstanding colleges and universities in the area. Students were able to visit schools such as the University of Chicago, Columbia College, DePaul University, Loyola University, Northwestern University, the University of Illinois in Chicago, Chicago State, Illinois Institute of Technology, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. We were also able to enjoy the side-splitting comedy at Chicago's most famous comedy club, The Second City, and check out the awesome sights at Millennium Park. A good time was had by all!
If you missed our Chicago trip this year - don't worry. We take students to Chicago every year in October. Applications are always available when school starts in September each year.

2008 ATLANTA COLLEGE TOUR
In February of 2008, Project SUCCESS took 25 students from North, South and Southwest High Schools to Atlanta, Georgia to look at colleges. Students were able to visit Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, Morehouse College, University of Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Tech and Emory University. One highlight of the campus tours was when Dr. Robert Franklin, President of Morehouse College, came to speak to our group. An inspirational as well as educational experience, it was an honor for us to be able to spend some time with him. More trip highlights were attending the most amazing Alvin Ailey American Dance Theate Company at the Fox Theater, enjoying the tasty Southern cooking at Mary Mac's Tea Room, and visiting the powerful Martin Luther King Center.

SUCCESS in the Big Apple!
Last year over Spring Break we took 23 motivated Juniors and Seniors from North, South and Southwest High Schools to New York City to explore the many colleges, universities and trade schools the city and the surrounding area has to offer. Our students had a wide range of interests from fashion design to aerospace technology and almost everyone in the group found a school that suited their needs.
Most of the trip was spent hustling from one school to the next, but we did find time to check out some of the city's great neighborhoods and tourist attractions like Central Park, the Empire State Building, Times Square, China Town, Greenwich Village, Harlem, and we even got to take in a Broadway show!
Some students were able to visit colleges they have always dreamed about and came back with a realistic view of what it would take to attend them. Some students saw schools they had never thought of attending, but now those schools are in their top 5 picks. But every student was able to get a feel for the city and could determine if it was the right choice for them. They all came away with the tools to make informed decisions about their educational future.

The 2005 Los Angeles Area College Tour was a huge success!

Over Spring Break of 2005, Project SUCCESS took 23 awesome students who represented North, South & Southwest High Schools to Los Angeles to check out the colleges and universities in the Southern California area. We had a blast! Before the trip, students researched the colleges in the area and reported back to Project SUCCESS the schools they needed to visit. Thanks to Steve Youlios who donated ground transportation while we were there, we were able to accomodate almost every request! By the end of this trip, students had toured UCLA, USC, Pepperdine, Loyola Marymount University, Cal Arts, Cal Tech, Azusa Pacific, University of LaVerne, Cal Poly Pomona, Whittier College, UC Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara City College, Westmont College, Cal State LA, LA City College, Cal State Long Beach, Columbia College Hollywood, Occidental, and Pomona, Pitzer, Scripps and Harvey Mudd of the Claremont Colleges. By visiting these campuses, students can now make informed choices regarding their college career.
One of our seniors on the trip, Edythe Smith, was accepted to all 3 of the schools she applied to in the Los Angeles area. She was able to make her final decision after visiting the 3 campuses. Congratulations to Edythe and to all the students who came with us for taking this crucial step in choosing your college!
