College Tour Boot Camp: 14 Schools, 3 Days, 500 Students!

October 20, 2014

While on break from school for MEA Week in October 2014, more than 500 Minneapolis students from North, Edison, Patrick Henry, Roosevelt, South, Southwest and Washburn High Schools, AND Anwatin Middle School participated in Project Success’ three-day immersive college tour boot camp. The boot camp was packed with admission information, campus tours, workshops, food and fun. Some students even had a chance to submit college applications on site during the visits.

Students had several tour options, including trips to Minnesota State University – Mankato, Gustavus Adolphus College, Macalester College, Hamline University, Augsburg College, Saint Paul College, Dunwoody College of Technology, Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC), Luther College (in Decorah, IA), St. Cloud State University, St. Catherine University, University of Minnesota – Duluth, University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and University of Wisconsin – River Falls.

Within just three days, students were able to visit a variety of schools, think critically about what they want from their college experience, and develop the skills and insight to choose the best college for their individual needs.

Our next round of tours occurs overnight from October 31 to November 1 for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students attending Minneapolis High Schools. Students will choose between a trip to the border of North Dakota or a tour to Wisconsin. Both tours will include three different schools.
